Description
Blue Bahama Storm Shutters by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image created for Day 264 of the 365 Challenge (Journal 2022).
While visiting in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, (USA), I noticed these Bahama style Storm Shutters on the house next door. The deep blue shutters stood out from the siding and produced quite a contrast to the stark white exterior wall of the building.
Bahama shutters are designed to allow breezes and views while providing shade from harsh sunlight. Storm shutters are designed to protect windows and doors from flying debris during tropical storms and hurricanes.
These particular shutters fulfill both needs. Locked in place they protect the windows from storm damage. Hinges on the top portion allow the shutters to be pushed out at the bottom and secured while movable louvers allow you to adjust the amount of light, privacy and outside views.
