Description
Cavernous Tree Trunk by Kathy K. McClellan is an image created for Day 142 of the 365 Challenge (Journal 2022). This is a vertical image.
I saw many distorted tree trunks and roots on a recent visit to Spring Park in Tuscumbia, Alabama (USA). This tree trunk was one of those distorted tree trunks in the park.
The tree appeared to have two trunks and one of the trunks had a large hollow in the center. Part of the trunk separated two openings to the cavernous hollow.
A large knot was positioned at the base of the hollow and out of view the roots were very gnarly.
I was curious about what caused that large hollow without killing the tree, as it was very much alive and leafed out in bright green leaves.
