Description
Dandelion Vignette by Kathy K. McClellan is an image created for Day 121 of the Journal 2022 Challenge. This is a square image.
A simple Dandelion vignette to celebrate May Day which has it's origin in astronomy. May 1st is one of the four cross-quartered days, midday between an equinox and solstice. It is a day to celebrate Spring.
There are several traditions that are observed throughout history and around the world on May Day. Almost every one of these traditions involve spring flowers.
What better flower to celebrate on May Day than the Dandelion! They are one of the world's most recognized flowers and are one of the first flowers in the spring to provide important food for pollinating insects.
Dandelions have a long history, are edible with medicinal properties, and they have a variety of symbolic meanings.
Dandelions represent childhood, innocence, happiness and joy. The beauty of the Dandelion expresses optimism, hope and dreams that come true, as well as overcoming challenges in life with pure motivation and love. Because they are one of the most versatile plants, they also symbolizes resilience, agility and tenacity.
Happy May Day! Celebrate Spring!
