Description
Downspout Fury is a photograph taken by Kathy K. McClellan for Day Two of a Seven Day Challenge with a specific theme: Liquid. It is a square image.
Water. The source of life. Rain. A source of water.
This photograph was taken during a rainstorm. Standing on a concrete patio I was mesmerized by the amount and force of water coming out of the downspout. The concrete splash pad was installed with a downward slope to allow runoff from the roof to flow out and away from the buildings foundation.
Having traveled straight down approximately 10', the curve on the end of the downspout did little to stop the rate of speed at which the liquid flowed. When it exited the spout the water looked as though it was suspended several inches in the air before hitting the concrete pad in a violent splash.
Jumping into the air the rain water gathered into a foamy mass before falling as separate droplets onto the wet grass and then soaking into the soil underneath the green blades.
