The day after Easter Sunday is Easter Monday, also called, Bright Monday or Renewal Monday. It is a public holiday in many countries worldwide.
Different traditions are practiced by different cultures around the world. Most activities in the US and other Western countries involve outdoor activities with egg rolling contests being the most popular. Picnics and parades are also traditional Western Easter Monday activities to enjoy.
A few fun facts:
(1) In the mid 1800s New York City inaugurated the Easter Parade on Easter Monday.
(2) In 1878 the first ever White House Easter Egg Roll took place on Easter Monday (USA).
(3) In the 1930s Jelly Bean candies become associated with Easter because they are shaped like eggs.
Easter Monday, as evidenced by the different traditions, is more than a religious holiday and is not celebrated everywhere.
