Description
This photograph was taken in the French Quarter of New Orleans, LA.
The French Quarter is the oldest neighborhood in the city of New Orleans and is also known as Vieux Carre. The city itself was founded in 1718 by Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville. The entire district (0.66 square miles) has been designated a National Historic Landmark.
Although there are various styles of architecture the main influence will be Spanish. Wrought iron balconies and fences are plentiful. The Quarters is home to the Pontalba Apartments (the oldest apartment buildings in the U.S.).
A visit to New Orleans would not be complete without a tour of The French Quarter.

Looks like a home in the back woods some place rather than the French Quarter, which I think of as an urban area. Lots of greenery, neat presentation.~DUG
Kathy K McClellan replied:
Thanks DUG. New Orleans is full of greenery! Palm and Live Oak trees, Banana shrubs, Cast Iron plants and many other tropical trees, shrubs and flowers. Let me know when you come to visit this city full of surprises!
