Description
These images show a memorial mural in Waveland, MS that was damaged during Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. The mural was created as a memorial to those who lost their lives when Hurricane Camille destroyed much of the Mississippi Gulf Coast in August 1969.
The mural was repairable but people kept taking pieces of tile as souvenirs so the city put up temporary fencing and a sign.
The sign reads: CITY OF WAVELAND PLEADS
Katrina didn't leave us much but she left us our mural. Please don't chip pieces off of our mural. It means very much to us. Thank you.
