The forecast for this day was rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow, starting with only rain and all the other precipitation mixing in until the only moisture falling from the sky was snow.
That's not how the reality of the day progressed.
A cold, dreary rain steadily fell from the sky. No freezing rain. No sleet. No snow. Rain and only rain.
The good news is that even though it's a grey day with no sun and varied cloud cover the temperatures have stayed about freezing. Those temperatures are barely above freezing but warm enough to prevent the mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow.
The not so good news is that it's a grey day with no sun and varied cloud cover and the temperatures will fall as evening approaches.
As the night progresses and temperatures fall well below freezing the moisture on the roads, sidewalks and tree branches will become ice. Icy conditions are more dangerous than snowy conditions.
The good news is that most people have prepared for these conditions and the temperature is expected to rise above freezing in a day or two producing improving conditions.

Love this work and the write up on it. I took many similar pictures today, but none of them as professional as this one.
