Description
Lawn Mushroom by Kathy K. McClellan is an image created for Day Two of the Three Day Fungi Challenge.
Fungi are classified in a kingdom that is separate from plants or animals. They are more closely related to animals than plants. The Kingdom of Fungi include 2-4 million species.
The kingdom is divided into three major parts that include Yeasts, Molds and Mushrooms.
Mushrooms are not only nutritious but are often a subject of Fairy Tales that include Forest Fairies, hence their nickname Toadstools.
This image shows a mushroom with an umbrella shaped top and a ridged underside. This mushroom barely stands with its top a little taller than the Bermuda grass in which it was growing in Northwestern Alabama, USA.
