Description
Louisiana Iris In Alabama by Kathy K. McClellan
I was given this Louisiana Iris many years ago. As with my other perennials I have taken a clump to every new place we've lived.
This flower had lived on our property on the Mississippi Coast for 17 years and even survived Hurricane Katrina's salty flood but never bloomed.
I dug up a clump and put in a nursery pot to bring with us on our latest move. What an unexpected surprise when this southern variety bloomed in northern Alabama!
My image First Iris Bud is a photograph of the first bud on the stem to bloom. This image shows both buds in bloom.

Thanks DUG! I don't know if you'd call it expertise since it took 17 years and a move further north to get it to bloom. LOL
