Mushroom Tea by Kathy K. McClellan is an abstracted photograph created for Day Three of Challenge 25 (Theme: Tea & Cake).
This photograph of a cup of green tea was manipulated to produce an example of the psychoactive experience that some people get from drinking psilocybin tea, more commonly known as Magic Mushroom Tea.
However, there are healthy mushroom teas that are not "magic". Cordyceps, reishi and chaga are the most popular. They are packed full of health benefits with each variety supporting a different body process.
These teas start with a loose powder or tea bags much like ordinary black and green teas. Some are also made from dried sliced mushrooms.
Yesterday's hippies made and drank their magic mushroom tea not knowing that at some level there were more benefits than the relaxed, sometimes hallucinogenic effects. Today's health conscious folks are taking advantage of scientific research to enjoy their mushroom teas.
Whatever type of tea you choose, drink up and consider having a little cake, too.
