Description
Our Lady of the Gulf Clock Tower by Kathy K. McClellan is an image created for Day Two of the TIME - 7 Day Challenge.
This clock Tower is located in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi at the top of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church.
The church was established in 1847. The present church building was built in 1908 after the original building was destroyed by fire.
Hurricane Katrina damaged the church, including the clock tower, and destroyed several other buildings on the property. Volunteers, locals and other churches helped to rebuild and repair the church, it's schools and other buildings on church property. By the fifth anniversary of Katrina most of the church buildings were repaired or rebuilt.
The church is a landmark in Bay St. Louis and it's clock tower stands tall over the church property.
