Description
P Is For Prayer by Kathy K. McClellan is an image created for Day 47 of the Journal 2022 Challenge, a 365 day Personal Art Challenge. This is a square image bordered in black.
My journal entries for February 2022 include upper case (capital) letters of the Modern English Alphabet as well as a description that relays information on the word chosen for that day's letter. These letters are created from used wine corks.
P is the sixteenth letter of the Modern English Alphabet and is being created and uploaded on the sixteenth day of the month.
What is prayer?
(1) Talking to God.
(2) A petition to or request of God.
(3) Spiritual Communication between God and man.
Prayers can be words, silent or out loud and thoughts. They can be a request, a praise or an expression of thanksgiving.
Almost all religions use a form of prayer. Some people pray silently, some pray memorized prayers, some people kneel while praying, some dance and some sway back and forth. But all of the people from different denominations are communing with the God of their belief.
Prayer can benefit both the mind and body in positive ways. A release of stress during or after prayer will give a sense of peace and that in turn will help the physical body to relax. The benefits of prayer have been studied scientifically and have been proven to improve things like blood pressure, heart rate and respiration. Improvement in these processes can enhance healing.
Today I plan to be intentional in making my prayers about praise, thanksgiving and petition on behalf of others. I look forward to less stress and more peace as a bonus to my communion with God.

Wonderful image. I pray from the moment I wake, to the moment I fall asleep, and all through my day. When you think about it, it's really no different than when you talk to another person. You get to know them better, and feel closer to them, the more you talk to them. It's no different with your heavenly Father! The more you talk to Him through prayer, the closer you will feel to Him.
