Description
This was the view down a city street in Bay Saint Louis, MS three days after Hurricane Katrina's wind and storm surge completely destroyed many entire sections of that city.
An entire roof is laying on the road in front of this man and there was another one to climb over after that one. What appears to be mulch spread across the road is actually bark that cyclonic winds stripped off of every tree in sight.
Only one other resident of this neighborhood had walked in and checked on the destruction when this image was taken. The National Guard came through this area the day after this photograph was taken and bulldozed all the debris to the sides of the road to make it passable.
