Description
Ruth's Roots Fence Collage by Kathy K. McClellan is an image created for Day 338 of the 365 Challenge (Journal 2022).
This collage showcases the exterior fencing across the front of Ruth's Roots, a community garden located in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi (USA), and a registered 501(C)3 non-profit.
Fence boards were donated and residents were invited to paint individual boards.
The garden was named after the late Ruth Thompson and is located at the former location of Ruth's Cakery. The land was donated by Jim Thompson.
There is a chicken coop, butterfly house, rabbit enclosure, koi pond, stone chess board and more. Garden vegetables and herbs are planted in raised beds. Eggs are donated to a local non-profit cafe.
Recent additions include a free library and a blessing box. The motto for the blessing box is, "Take what you need. Leave what you can."
The garden is open 24/7 and has been visited by people from all over the United States as well as several different countries.
