Snow Sculptured Sycamore by Kathy K. McClellan is an image created for Day Two of the "Journal Challenge 2022", a 365 day Personal Art Challenge.
The photograph processed for today's image was taken in northwestern Alabama (USA) in January 2021. As I look out the back window of our apartment I can see that same Sycamore tree.
Snow is in the forecast for this evening and as I look at that tree I imagine that it will be looking just like today's image in a couple of hours.
Snow piling up on the horizontal branches accentuates the sculptured shape of the tree.
Sycamore trees are some of the world's oldest trees and even without a covering of snow the tree's branches appear very sculptural.
The gray sky and dark branches of other deciduous trees give a neutral background for the large Sycamore. Dried grasses in the foreground and a few small pine saplings lend a little color to an otherwise drab winter landscape.
