Spice Family Pies by Kathy K. McClellan is a digital image created for Day Seven of the Seven Day Samhain/Halloween Challenge. This is a square image.
The farmer who raised The Spice Family (a digital, fictional family of winter squash) made a deal many years ago with their ancestors. He promised not to throw away or waste their flesh when carving them into Jack-O-Lanterns and they promised to multiply generously. Since his first generation of melons that we call Pumpkins, the farmer's wife has been using the inside flesh of those pumpkins to make delicious desserts. The seeds that were separated from the flesh are planted the next year and another plentiful harvest is grown.
In this image we see seven pumpkin pies made from the flesh carved out of the present generation of The Spice Family (Grandma & Grandpa Spice, Mom & Dad Spice, and siblings Pumpkin, Melon and Squash Spice).
These pies, topped off with real whipped cream, will be as delicious as the Jack-O-Lanterns are cute!
