Description
Stagecoach Stop Stone Chimney by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image created for the Sketch/Photo Challenge 35 (Theme: Chimney).
This structure in Tuscumbia, Alabama (USA) was built along the Jackson Road in the early 1800s. It is a single-pen, hewn-log cabin.
The cabin was heated by a single fireplace with a stone chimney.
This chimney is the only architectural element on one side of the cabin and takes up a third of the entire side of the building.
Stone was a plentiful building material in the Tuscumbia area and was used to build chimneys as well as entire walls.
