The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. Swim by Kathy K. McClellan is an image created for Day 78 of the Journal 2022 Challenge.
My journal entries for March make up a series titled "From Letters to Words" using the letters that were created for the February entries. As March is Women's History Month (since 1987), several of my posts this month will be celebrating women in history.
Today's image is being created on March 19th, birthday of Jennie Fletcher (born in 1890 in Leicester, England).
Jennie was an award winning swimmer who was Britain’s first woman Olympic swimming medalist.
She worked 12 hour days, six days a week and could only train after work. At the age of 17 she was offered, but turned down, an offer to go professional.
From 1906 to 1912 she held the world record in the 100 yard freestyle and broke her own record 11 times.
At the peak of her career in 1908 she was due to participate in the London Olympic Games but the women's events were cancelled due to lack of co...

I may have to buy this one. SWIM stands for STOP, WARN, ISOLATE, MINIMIZE. Don't ask me what I do for a living, but SWIM has many meanings. Love this work and shared. Of course, I love to swim and the fins are lovely.
