The Ghostly Bayou Bridge by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image created for Day 177 of the 365 Challenge (Journal 2022).
Bayou have always been somewhat mysterious to me. Cutting through muddy marshland, their dark water rises and falls with the tides. Hundreds of creatures live and breed along their banks as well as in their depths.
I processed this photograph earlier with an infrared treatment. Not only did it produce a contrast between the modern architecture and the ancient nature of the bayou, but the lack of color also produced a contrast in black and white tones.
The negative process that you see on this version gives the original photograph a dark mysterious image with ghostly highlights on the bridge.
I suspect if those marsh grasses could talk you would hear plenty of real life ghost stories!
