Description
Timeless Blooming Live Oaks by Kathy K. McClellan is an image created for Day Three of the TIME 7 Day Challenge.
The clock tower at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis may be taller than the Live Oak trees but it is an infant in age. These Live Oak trees were hundreds of years old when the church and tower were built in 1908.
This image shows Live Oak Trees in bloom in the spring as they finally shed last years leaves. The original photograph was processed with a treatment that was used in the 1960s to process film. Cross Processing used different chemicals to develop negatives into prints. For example, chemicals usually used to process slides were instead used to process prints.
I chose the Cross Process treatment to create an image that resembles the colors that would have been produced on a post card in that time period, as these trees and church are Landmarks in Bay St. Louis, MS and are indeed still shown on post cards even today.
