Description
Tunnel Vision by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image created for Week 44 of the 52 week Art Challenge (Theme: The World Outside).
A long tunnel with illuminated ceiling lights stretches ahead, giving a sense of depth and perspective. Two cars are visible in the distance, driving through the tunnel. Bright light at the far end suggests that the tunnel ends at that point.
This image is a view as you drive through the George Wallace Tunnel. The tunnel carries traffic from Interstate 10 under the Mobile River. It was opened to traffic in February of 1973 and named after George Wallace, governor of the state of Alabama at that time.
At the time of this posting (July 2024) a new toll bridge is under construction to help alleviate congestion in the tunnel. After the bridge is opened to traffic the tunnel will remain and will still be in use.
