Description
Windows Above The Church Door by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image created for Day 229 of the 365 Challenge (Journal 2022).
These windows are located above the front door on the United Presbyterian Church in Antrim, Ohio (USA). The bottom window's shape matches the top portion of the stained glass windows on the sides of the church, as well as the two windows flanking the front door but out of view in this image.
This window, however, is not stained glass but instead is frosted glass with a wood trim inset. The inset appears as two upside down U shapes with a V shape rising from the center of those U shapes.
Directly under the glass portion of the bottom window is a black sign with white letters that states: ANTRIM PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH EST. 1889.
The upper window in this image is located directly above the lower window and is a shorter, wider version of the lower window's shape. The wood trim inset in this window uses a Y shaped piece of trim to divide the window into three equal sections. Each of those sections also contains trim work. The trim work in those sections forms a half circle in the corner of each section with three straight pieces of trim coming out of the half circle, looking like the sun with three rays projecting from it.
The details on the front of this church reflect the creativity and craftsmanship of late 19th Century carpenters.
