Description
There are two definitions of a Blue Moon. The older definition is the third full moon in a season that has four full moons. The more recent and more familiar definition is the second full moon in a calendar month.
On December 31, 2009 the full moon was a Blue Moon. The next Blue Moon that occurs on New Years Eve will take place in 2028. I feel blessed that not only was I able to capture this event but I was able to capture it rising over the Bay of Saint Louis, Mississippi. This particular photograph was taken at 5:18 pm, Central Standard Time.

I was looking through this gallery again and I noticed that the 3 moon photos would be beautiful as a grouping on a wall...they are all in different location in the sky.
