Description
Brush That Tongue by Kathy K. McClellan is an image created from a photograph and processed into a print with text. 100% of the artist's mark up goes to Chloe's Fund, a fund that pays for life saving treatments and surgeries for shelter animals in the Florence, Lauderdale County, Alabama area.
This is a fun poster or print for a dentist's or veterinarian's office.
Chihuahuas and other very small breed dogs are prone to dental disease. Infections of the gums can lead to full blown gum disease causing loss of the bone surrounding the teeth and loss of the teeth themselves. Worse than that it can lead to heart disease, just as it can in humans.
There are chew treats and toys made to help keep calculus (tarter) from forming and causing these infections but none of those items will be as useful as brushing the dog's teeth and tongue.
Special rubber or silicon brushes are made especially for dogs and should be used as they are more gentle on their gums. The toothbrush in this photograph is actually a (human) child's toothbrush and is not the best choice for dogs but this is the one that Tina prefers.
Tina also uses a natural, homemade toothpaste. Because she loves her toothpaste she considers it a treat to lick or chew the remaining paste from the bristles after a good brushing. This also removes any food particles and bacteria from the surface of her tongue.
