Alabama Afternoon Delight by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image created for Week 8 of the 52 Week Art Challenge (Theme: The World Outside).
After a rainy morning in Florence, Alabama (USA) the clouds parted and the sun started shining. This continued for several hours until late afternoon. While the sky was only partly cloudy in most directions storm clouds had formed in the Western sky.
Suddenly, while the sun was still shining the rain clouds to the west poured large raindrops down to earth. The drops pelted the ground along with my head and shoulders as I stepped off our back patio to capture this rainbow among the clouds quickly gathering in the eastern sky.
A faint double rainbow tried to appear to the south of the visible one but never made it all the way around the arch of the rainbow shown.
The rain stopped and the rainbow faded out just as quickly as the storm had built up.
