Description
Ruth's Roots Stone Game Board by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image created for Day 345 of the 365 Challenge (Journal 2022).
This game board made from a large stone slab sits atop another huge rock. There is a basket of chess pieces on the side of the board to be used when the present game of checkers is finished.
Two outdoor chairs are placed on opposite sides with seat sized boulders on the other two sides for spectators to sit and watch the friendly matches that take place.
All of this friendly competition takes place in Ruth's Roots, a community garden in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi (USA).
The garden was named after the late Ruth Thompson and is located at the former location of Ruth's Cakery. The land was donated by Jim Thompson.
There is a chicken coop, butterfly house, rabbit enclosure, koi pond, blessing box, adult and children's lending libraries as well as several other attractions.
Garden vegetables and herbs are planted in raised beds. Eggs are donated to a local non-profit cafe.
The garden is open 24/7 and has been visited by people from all over the United States as well as several different countries.

That is very cool! If I ever get to Mississippi, I want to see this place. You have captured so many interesting things about it!

Bay Saint Louis was our home and my paradise for almost 20 years, nearly wiped out by Katrina but there's something new all the time now.
