The Fortune Cookie by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image.

A fortune cookie is a a crisp and sugary cookie wafer with a “fortune” inside. It is traditional in the United States (USA) to eat one of these treats as a dessert after a Chinese meal.

Each cookie has a strip of white paper tucked inside. There are fortunes, proverbs or idioms printed on these narrow strips of paper.

The strip of white paper tucked inside the cookie shown in this photograph was printed with the statement, “Only put off until tomorrow what you are willing to die having left undone.”

This particular fortune cookie produced not only a sweet treat after a meal but also contained "food for thought"!
