The Wizard by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image created for Week 11 of the 52 week Art Challenge (Theme: The World Outside).

This gentleman saw me taking photographs at the 2023 Alabama Renaissance Faire in Florence, Alabama (USA). He immediately struck a pose and held it until I faced him and took a couple of pictures. He kept his pose and stared at me until I lowered my camera and mouthed Thank You. He then looked away and walked off.

The Renaissance Faire in Florence has been held since 1987 and has been the official state Renaiassance Faire since 1988. It is held in downtown Florence, Alabama (USA) in Wilson Park.

Demonstrations are held and craft vendors fill the park while costumed characters roam the grounds for two days. Visitors can sample traditional Italian sausage and peppers and modern fair food from food trucks parked along one side of the park.

What started as an educational fair to teach about the Italian Renaissance is now a festival about not only the Italian culture of that period but also about the Scottish and English culture of the Renaissance with a dash of modern Sci-Fi culture.
