Description
Female Hummingbird Taking Off In Alabama by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image of a Female Ruby-Throated Hummingbird.
This Female Ruby-Throated Hummingbird has found herself in Alabama's Northwestern corner in the city of Florence (USA). She is migrating south in mid September.
There is a human provided feeder full of sugar water out of view to the left of the photographer.
Taking off from the uppermost branch of an evergreen shrub where she has been resting, you can see her wings whirling as evidenced by the slight motion blur.
Notice the contrast between the dark red brick wall behind her and her cream colored chest which is being highlighted by the early morning sunlight.
She will most likely spend the cold winter months in warm Mexico but may stop and stay in the warmer areas of the southern United States bordering The Gulf Of Mexico.
