Description
Pineapple Peak Pattern by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image created for the Fine Art America Photo Challenge 6 (Theme: Fruit Macro).
This image shows the pattern on the outside of a pineapple plant, a tropical plant full of nutrients.
The outside of this fruit is made up of many small circular sections. The edges of these circles can resemble the outside of a flower blossom as the petals curl under.
In the center of these segments is a thin, tan colored papery material. These papery pieces are arranged in a star shape but only the upper most piece will rise above the surface of the plant in a peak.
The circular segments start out green and slowly turn yellow around the outside edges of those segments. When you see more yellow than green you can be assured that the pineapple has ripened and is ready to eat.
