Spring by Kathy K. McClellan is an image created for Day 79 of the Journal 2022 Challenge.
My journal entries for March make up a series titled "From Letters to Words" using the letters that were created for the February entries.
The official start of spring is called the Spring Equinox or Vernal Equinox or March Equinox. It is called the Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere and Autumnal Equinox in the Southern Hemisphere.
This equinox falls on March 19th, 20th or 21th. As this image is being created in the year 2022 in the Northern Hemisphere it will be called the Spring Equinox and will occur on March 20th.
Equinoxes are characterized by having an almost exactly equal amount of daylight and night across most latitudes on Earth.
Equinox comes from aequus, the Latin word for equal or even, and nox, the Latin word for night.
