All Christmas decorations have been packed up and put away. When I got up and went into the Living Room this morning I missed all the lights, glitter and cheerfulness. The room seemed bland.
However, going through the photographs that I had taken shortly before packing up those decorations brightened my mental state as much as the sunshine beaming down outside.
This photograph in particular reminds me of warm, sunny days at the beach. A boat in the painting brings memories of boating in the Gulf of Mexico. The starfish on the top of the wooden tree and the seashells glued to the stand remind me of days spent beach combing and collecting shells.
After several days of cloudy, wet and freezing weather, the sun outside and the photographs in front of me helped to make the room less drab than I had perceived less than an hour ago.
