Description
Buddha At Ruth's Roots by Kathy K. McClellan is an image created for Day 351 of the 365 Challenge (Journal 2022). This is a vertical format image.
This Buddha statue sits above the waterfall that feeds the Koi pond at Ruth's Roots, a community garden located in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi (USA).
He sits meditating in a Vajrasana position (also called the adamant posture, lotus, or diamond). There are metal fish sculptures around the pond as well as the real fish in the shallow pool of water.
The sound of the waterfall, birds chirping and singing lend a peaceful feel to a busy downtown tourist area.
The garden was named after the late Ruth Thompson and is located at the former location of Ruth's Cakery. The land was donated by Jim Thompson.
There is a chicken coop, butterfly house, rabbit enclosure, blessing box, adult and children's lending libraries as well as several other attractions.
Garden vegetables and herbs are planted in raised beds. Eggs are donated to a local non-profit cafe.
The garden is open 24/7 and has been visited by people from all over the United States as well as several different countries.
