Description
McCormick Farmall Cub Tractor by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image created for Day 277 of the 365 Challenge (Journal 2022).
I photographed this tractor at Mark's Melon Patch a few miles outside Sasser, Georgia (USA). This particular piece of farm equipment was built by the International Harvester Company at their plant in Louisville, Kentucky (USA).
Nameplate panels on the hood sides and grille painted white indicate that this tractor was a 1957 model, one of 6,158 manufactured that year.
The Farmall Cub tractors were designed for small acreage farmers to replace their horse or mule for cultivating row crops. They were the smallest tractors made by the company and a total of 245,000 Cubs were built between 1947 and 1981 in Louisville.
Many of these small tractors remain in use on small farms today because of their versatility.
