Boom Hook by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image created for Day 291 of the 365 Challenge (Journal 2022). This is a vertical format image.
This photograph was taken in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi (USA) as the bridge over the Bay of Saint Louis was being replaced. The original draw bridge was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina a year earlier. An assortment of construction equipment was needed and the crane to which this hook belonged was one of several cranes shipped in by barge.
A series of pulleys, cables and hooks on many cranes enabled the workman to lift heavy beams and other equipment into place while constructing the new elevated bridge.
Living down the street from the bridge at the time, afforded me the opportunity to take many photographs of the bridge before, during and after it's replacement.
