Description
Pass Christian Shrimp Boats by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image processed for Day 169 of the 365 Challenge (Journal 2022).
This photograph was taken in Pass Christian, Mississippi (USA) during the off season for shrimp.
The Pass, as it is known locally, has two areas in their harbor. One area is for working boats and the other is for pleasure and charter boats.
Most of the boats you see here are working shrimp boats that were based out of the Pass Harbor in 2007. There are also a couple of other boats in this view, including one used for gathering oysters, but all are vessels that are used to harvest seafood for sale.
Buying shrimp directly from one of these boats is the best way to get fresh seafood, especially if you know a shrimp boat captain. At one time during our life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, we had a one captain's phone number and could call to see when his boat was expected back at the harbor.
That was the best shrimp!
