Justice by Kathy K. McClellan is an image created for Day 85 of the Journal 2022 Challenge.
My journal entries for March make up a series titled "From Letters to Words" using the letters that were created for the February entries. As March is Women's History Month (since 1987), several of my posts this month will be celebrating women in history.
Today, March 26th is the birthday of Sandra Day O'Conner. She was an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1981 to 2006.
Judge Sandra Day O'Conner:
(1) The first woman to be nominated and confirmed to serve on the Supreme Court.
(2) Her confirmation hearing was the first Supreme Court confirmation hearing to be televised.
(3) As of 2022, she was confirmed by the most votes for a Supreme Court confirmation in U.S. history (vote of 99-0).
(4) She received the Presidential Medal Of Freedom in 2009.
