Description
Mississippi Katrina Military Aid by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image processed for Day Two of Challenge 20 (Theme: Aircraft).
This photograph is part of my Photojournalism Collection. It was taken from a moving pick up truck three days after Hurricane Katrina decimated the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
The US Military helicopter, flown in by the National Guard, was landing in a grassy plot in the unincorporated area of Hancock County called Kiln, Mississippi (known locally as The Kill). This area is approximately 13 miles north of the Gulf Of Mexico and has water to it's south and southeast (Jourdan River and several bayous).
Supplies were being flown in to people who survived the storm but whose homes had either been flooded or blown apart by Katrina's winds.

I can’t believe you were able to get that shot from a moving vehicle!
Kathy K McClellan replied:
I don't know how I got it without getting my husband in the shot. He was driving and the helicopter was on his side of the road!
