Description
Rolling Bay Waves by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image processed for Day 161 of the 365 Challenge.
This photograph was taken on a chilly, December morning in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi (USA). The wind was whistling out of the north and pushing water out of the Bay of Saint Louis to the Gulf Of Mexico.
Because the wind was blowing with the direction of the outgoing tide the water did not chop or whitecap. Instead it was rolling smoothly and not peaking into those foamy caps.
The water in the Bay changes color according to the weather and the time of day. Mornings and evenings find the sun at a lower angle and the Bay will most likely be this gorgeous shade of blue. Cloudy or rainy days and sun directly overhead finds the water looking gray, brown or murky.
This photograph might portray the day deceptively as a pretty, sunny, summer day when in fact it was a cold, wintry, windy morning.
What a blessing that as a summer person who finds windy, winter mornings physically painful, that I can still see the natural beauty in that rolling water and delight in those bubbles reflecting on the surface.
