Description
Collinwood Water Tower by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image created for Day 298 of the 365 Challenge (Journal 2022).
On a recent adventure driving part of the Natchez Trace Parkway I stopped briefly in Collinwood, Tennessee (USA). Their water tower was such a bright white it looked like it had been repainted recently.
This city of 898 is the only city in Tennessee that is located directly on the border of the Natchez Trace Parkway. It was established in 1913 and named after W.W. Collins, president of the Collinwood Land Company which platted the city.
Although Collinwood was once a thriving railroad town with a population of 2,000 during WWI, all that remains of the railroad era now is the old station that is a museum and library. The Collinwood Railroad station was built in 1916 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
