Oranges are citrus fruits of the Rutaceae plant family. They are related to lemons and limes. Their fruit is a kind of modified berry with a thick rind covering.
Mandarin Oranges are a distinct species of orange. They are smaller and oblate, rather than round. They are also sweeter than the common orange.
The orange tree is an evergreen, flowering tree and grows in warm, temperate climates.
There are an enormous amount of cultivators and hybrids of oranges, most of which are sweet and acidic. Orange flesh is 87% water, 12% carbohydrates, 1% protein, and a rich source of Vitamin C.
