Description
Stone Home On The Water is a photograph taken in Florence, Alabama (USA).
This stone house sits on a hill that rises up from a small inlet immediately off the Tennessee River. The photograph was taken from the South Overlook at the Wilson Dam in Florence, AL (USA).
Homes along these inlets are built on hills that slope up and away from the river. That topography protects the houses from rising water during times of flooding.
Although the dam was built to harness electricity it also helps to alleviate most flooding on the east side of the dam by allowing more water to flow downriver during times of heavy rainfall.

How peaceful is this image...I could live there!

Roberta, this was the river inlet opposite the one with the red brick house!
