Description
Tennessee Valley Bank Building by Kathy K. McClellan is a photographic image created for Day 365 of the 365 Challenge (Journal 2022).
The building in this photograph is located in Florence, Alabama (USA). It dates to 1890 as a shoe shop and women's hat shop. The bank occupied the first floor by 1899 with professional offices occupying the second floor.
Originally, the commercial style building was brick. The bank updated the building around 1915, adding the present day limestone facade in a Neoclassical Revival style to the front. Nearly full height pilasters with Doric capitals and the "Tennessee Valley Bank" name etched into the stone complete the top of the building.
It is now owned and occupied by a law firm.
